We are thrilled to be working with your children this year and we are looking forward to the next 12 months together. Although this is an incredibly important year in terms of preparing for Secondary School, we shall endeavour to continue to balance hard work with fun learning. We are proud of the relationships we have with your children and feel that we know them extremely well. Please remember you are all a part of our community and are welcome into school at anytime.
Mrs Poyntz & Mrs Birkett.
Reading books need to be brought into school every Monday and an adult needs to sign their child’s reading record. In Year 6, we encourage them to read 50 pages or more a week. Children have login details for all online platforms used by the school and can access these to help them with Times Tables practice (TTRockstars) and Spelling practice (Spelling Shed). Please help them to practise these regularly, along with supporting them in learning all their times tables by heart up to 12 X 12.
Your child will receive a piece of Maths, Grammar and Reading Comprehension homework each week. This is due the following Monday and should be completed to a good standard in blue/black ink for English and pencil for Maths.
Spellings – Tuesday
Each week the children will receive a new set of spellings to learn. They will be tested the following Tuesday. Spelling Shed is an online platform successfully being used by the school to help them in learning spellings appropriate for their age and ability. Please encourage children to access the platform regularly.
Year 6 children will have PE on Wednesday and Fridays. The children are expected to come to school in their PE kits on those days (Please see prospectus for kit list).
